Jim Harbaugh Dances Around NFL Questions After Michigan’s National Championship Win

Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines were soaking in their national championship victory after taking down the Washington Huskies on Monday, and the Wolverines coach wanted no part of questions about his future.

During his postgame press conference, Harbaugh was asked about the rumors linking him to one of the already vacant or soon-to-be vacated NFL coaching jobs.

The 60-year-old quickly shot down the question, asking media members to give him the opportunity to enjoy the moment before focusing on his next steps.

“I just want to enjoy this. I just want to enjoy this,” said Harbaugh. “I hope you give me that. Can a guy have that? Does it always have to be ‘What’s next? What’s the future?’ I hope to have a future. I hope there’s a tomorrow, a day after tomorrow, a next week, a next month, a next year.”

Harbaugh wasn’t willing to talk about his future plans, instead hoping to savor the moment of winning a championship with his team. After all, it was Michigan’s first national championship victory in 26 years.

As more NFL jobs open up following the conclusion of the regular season, the speculation surrounding Harbaugh figures to grow. He’s avoiding those conversations, at least for now, as he urged for some patience from the media.
