Jim Goodwin struggles to comprehend Aberdeen collapse as ashen-faced boss searches for answers

Heartbroken Jim Goodwin could barely find the words to explain his side's capitulation in the dying seconds against Rangers.

The Aberdeen boss was left ashen-faced with shock after the last-gasp 3-2 defeat thanks to Scott Arfield's deadly double. He watched his side contrive to lose to rivals Rangers despite leading in the 95th minute after stunning strikes from Duk Lopes and Leighton Clarkson putting them on the brink of a glory night. But a first win over their fierce rivals wasn't to be after Rangers launched an improbable comeback.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "Gutted, very hard to put into words which just happened to be honest. I thought the boys were excellent for the majority of the game, and not only deserved to take something from the game, I thought we deserved to win the game. Two late goals like that, it is incredible, I have never experienced anything quite like it. Extremely frustrating, there is a mistake for the equaliser but, in fairness, our goalkeeper has been immense, not just tonight but through the course of the season. He's unlucky, it takes a bounce just in front of him and he cannot make it stick.

"It's a tap-in for Arfield, he's done that very well, arriving in the box, he's got a habit of being in the right place. Even when it goes back to 2-2 we should see the game out and manage the game better. At least take a point from the game. It's too early for me to analyse it, a little bit too frustrated. Look, we go into every game trying to win it. I thought there was a real intensity and we scored a couple of cracking goals."
