Jim Goodwin relives Aberdeen shame game as Dundee United boss gets set to put Hibs misery behind him

Jim Goodwin admits he looks back on his final game as Aberdeen boss through his fingers as he gets set to face Hibs for the first time since.

The image of Goodwin trudging across the Easter Road pitch having been given his marching orders straight after that 6-0 trouncing is one of the infamous pictures of Scottish football this season but the former Dons boss hasn't spent long licking his wounds. He was out of employment for barely a month before jumping headfirst into a relegation battle with Dundee United and is still looking for his first win.

But he's hopeful of getting it this weekend and while he stopped short of admitting he's out for revenge against the side who brought an end to his Pittodrie tenure, he's looking forward to a competitive game against a Hibs side who have lost their last three matches - albeit two of which were against Celtic and Rangers.

He said on Sky Sports: "I haven't spoken to Lee (Johnson) since. It was my last game in charge of Aberdeen and it wasn't a game that I remember fondly.

"But Hibs are a good team. They're up there competing for Europe which is where you'd expect a club like Hibs to be. I know Lee will be hurting from the last three defeats and he'll no doubt be looking for a reaction for his players. So it should make for a very good, open, entertaining game on Sunday."
