Jim Goodwin punished for Hibs blast as Aberdeen boss handed lengthy ban for Porteous comments

Jim Goodwin has been slapped with an eight-game ban following a Scottish FA notice of complaint for his comments on Hibs defender Ryan Porteous after his Aberdeen side lost 3-1 to the Hibees.

The Dons boss accused the Scotland international of 'cheating' after Porteous won a penalty following a foul by Liam Scales, which resulted in the defender being sent off. Goodwin has now faced the wrath of the SFA and will miss his team's next six games because of his words.

It has landed him a six-match immediate ban, with two further matches to be suspended until the end of the season. Goodwin said at the time of the Hibs defender: “I don’t know how many times the boy Porteous can get away with that kind of stuff. We showed our players a number of instances when Porteous has won penalties like that in the past.

"People will say he’s good at it and he’s clever. But it’s blatant cheating as far as I’m concerned and it’s cost my team points."

Since the match, Porteous has enjoyed a fantastic period which has him shine for Scotland on his international debut.

He then netted for Lee Johnson's side in their 2-0 win away at Ross County ahead of hosting Motherwell at Easter Road on Saturday.
