Jim Goodwin in brutally honest Aberdeen verdict as he presents 'teacher's scorecard' to shareholders at AGM

Jim Goodwin insists it hasn't been top marks for Aberdeen in his tenure so far - insisting there is far more to come from his squad at the club's AGM.

The Dons have enjoyed surefire progress under Goodwin since his appointment back in February and went into the World Cup break in third place, with the former St Mirren boss restoring a degree of pride at Pittodrie after the Stephen Glass project came to a crashing halt. They've had their ups and downs under the Irishman but as they get set resume their season against Celtic on Saturday, there is a confidence he is the man to drive them forward.

But he's not settling and insists he isn't giving it 10/10 for his ten months in charge. Addressing shareholders at the club's AGM, he said: "We haven’t hit the ceiling yet of what we’re capable of doing. If I had to give you a teacher's scorecard I’d say doing okay but can do better. We're not the finished article."

Meanwhile chairman Dave Cormack admitted there's no chance of any Pittodrie improvements before the planned opening of a new stadium. Shareholders are growing restless with the lack of progress as the club await council approval for a new £80million beachfront home and Cormack was asked if there were any chance of renovations to the current ground in the meantime.

But "Pittodrie is a no-no," was the honest answer from the chairman. He highlighted any revamp to the current stadium could take £15m out of the budget for the new ground.
