Determined Jim Goodwin has vowed to lead Aberdeen into the future.
And he says it all starts with leaving the "lazy recruitment" in the past.
The Dons have started to look far and wide in the transfer market with Albanian Ylber Ramadani on the brink of arriving at Pittodrie.
That comes after the club landed Colombian winger Vicente Besuijen in January shortly before Goodwin took the reins.
The Irishman is happy to see things moving in the right direction but wants to see more steps forward in the years ahead.
And while he acknowledges the great work of Derek McInnes during his long tenure, he wants Aberdeen to be more ambitious and far-reaching in their recruitment than they were under the now- Kilmarnock boss.
Speaking to Red TV , Goodwin said: "Derek had great success doing things his way and we can't deny that.
"But for me, in the modern game, a club the size of Aberdeen, you should have a director of football, a head of recruitment, and an army of scouts spanning into Europe and worldwide.
"That's the size of club we are. We spoke about lazy recruitment – it's very easy to sign players from teams that you play against in your own league. I'm not saying we won't do that because sometimes it's worthwhile.
"But we have to be willing to go into Europe and South America. Ireland has been great for me too at St Mirren – there's no doubt about that.
"We have to broaden our horizons and that's something we're working hard on."
