Jim Goodwin and the Aberdeen need for speed as Dons legend sends 'pussyfooting around' message to Dave Cormack

Willie Miller has urged Aberdeen not to hang around in their pursuit of Jim Goodwin - insisting money should be no issue.

The Dons had an approach to speak to the St Mirren boss denied earlier on Tuesday, with the Paisley side adamant a compensation package must be agreed before granting permission.

It's believed it'll take around £250,000 for Saints to strike an agreement.

And Pittodrie legend Miller reckons if Goodwin is the man Dave Cormack wants to replace Stephen Glass, he needs to get it done quickly.

Miller said on BBC Sportsound: "If Aberdeen feel and think Jim Goodwin is the man they want to lead the club then go get him, that's what I say.

"I think all this pussyfooting around and taking too long to make their mind up... Listen, get the thought process and procedure going, get your shortlist and go for the man you think you want.

"I don't really feel the finance should be a barrier for Dave Cormack.

"If he wants success at the club, and he's proven in the past he's backed them with financial support, then go and get Jim Goodwin.

"But there's other candidates out there and you've got to think carefully about it, take a little bit of time but not too much.

"Take a little bit of time to consider this club and what the fit might be for the next manager.

"Dave Cormack made a big decision in moving on the last manager.

"He brought in a young, rookie manager and it hasn't worked out, so he has to try - and I say that 'try' because there's no guarantees when you appoint a manager."
