Jim Cramer Fires Critique at Elon Musk (Tesla Shareholders Are Elated)

Over the weekend Elon Musk took a brief break from firing verbal shots at Mark Zuckerberg to drive a prototype of his (TSLA) -) Cybertruck around Austin.

Sightings of the futuristic-looking EV pickup have increased as Tesla finally nears its much-anticipated delivery event.

Musk said in April that Tesla was planning to begin deliveries of the truck -- which was first unveiled in 2019 -- toward the latter half of the year.

Reservations for the coming model topped 1.5 million as of November 2022, according to Electrek. Musk himself said last year that the Cybertruck was sold out through 2025, but he hasn't indicated just how many orders that equates to.

At least one investor, however, doesn't really care when the much-delayed Cybertruck finally becomes available. Jim Cramer, the host of CNBC's "Mad Money," is a Ford fan through and through. And he doesn't think Musk's Cybertruck can match up to the legacy carmaker.

Twitter users, who often bash Cramer for his less-than-accurate takes, were quick to take the Tesla criticism as a win for the EV makers and a loss for Ford.

(F) -) delivered its first F-150 Lightning -- the electric version of the iconic F-150 pickup -- in May 2022, and as of January said that it had sold more than 15,000 of the fully electric trucks. The cheapest Lightning model starts at $55,000; the Platinum model, which boasts an extended range, starts at just shy of $100,000.

More Jim Cramer:

Car and Driver gave the 2023 Lightning a 9/10, ranking the truck just behind the Rivian (RIVN) -) R1T.
