Jim Clyburn concerned about AI technology infiltrating election process

Congressman Jim Clyburn supports the write-in campaign by Democrats in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire Write-In Campaign and Concerns over AI Tactics in Elections

In an interview with Congressman Jim Clyburn, the future of the Democratic Party and concerns over upcoming elections were discussed. Clyburn commended the Democrats in New Hampshire for their decision to hold a write-in campaign despite President Biden not being on the ballot. He applauded those candidates who chose to participate in order to demonstrate their commitment to the National Democratic Party.

Clyburn drew attention to the historical significance of write-in campaigns, citing the example of former United States Senator Strom Thurmond winning a seat through a write-in campaign in South Carolina. He expressed interest in seeing how well the New Hampshire write-in campaign fares.

The conversation then shifted to concerns over the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in election tactics. Clyburn expressed deep concern about a recent robocall in New Hampshire featuring an AI voice resembling President Biden, urging people not to vote. He highlighted the need to address this trend of AI manipulation, citing Hillary Clinton's 2016 experience as a cautionary tale. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding the electoral process and preventing foreign interference.

Moving forward, the interview touched on polling data indicating that President Biden is underperforming among Black voters compared to his 2020 results. Clyburn dismissed the notion that Biden is solely responsible for this decline. Instead, he highlighted the president's focus on addressing threats to democracy and the country as a whole. Clyburn urged a broader effort to combat misinformation, particularly among young voters. He emphasized the need for accurate information to counter the misleading narratives prevalent on social media platforms.

Clyburn further defended the president's record, citing legislative successes such as the Rescue Plan, Infrastructure Bill, and various acts focused on education and inflation reduction. He specifically highlighted President Biden's efforts in eliminating student loan debt, asserting that over $137 billion has been forgiven, benefiting millions of people. He called for better communication and education to dispel misinformation surrounding the president's accomplishments.

The interview concluded with highlighting the importance of engaging young voters and providing them with accurate and substantive information. Clyburn believes that by focusing on the truth and the president's record, the Democratic Party can drive more support and counter misinformation.

As the New Hampshire primary approaches and concerns over AI manipulation persist, Congressman Jim Clyburn's insights shed light on the current state of the Democratic Party and the challenges it faces.
