After getting the surprise of her life, with the presentation of a statue in her honour on live TV, Jill Scott headed to one of Newcastle's most favourite 'hidden gems' for breakfast on Monday morning.
The former England Lionesses players and reigning Queen of the Jungle, was back on home turf for a very special reason at the start of the week, as a crowd gathered right next to Gateshead's Angel of the North, to see her remove a blindfold to see a 4.5m tall bronze sculpture in front of her, in honour of her being announced as a new team captain on hit Sky show League of their Own, as well as being the face of Good Morning Britain's coverage of the upcoming Women's World Cup.
In a state of shock that she had her own statue, Jill reacted: "It looks incredible. It’s such a proud moment to be back in the North East. To look at a statue like this - I’ve got goosebumps ! It’s such a special moment to be here today.”

After letting the fact that a statue had been created in her honour sink in and meeting fans, Jill made the short distance from the outskirts of Gateshead to Newcastle city centre, to call into Horticulture, the acclaimed venue she'd becoming a bit of a regular at and is also a big hit with Newcastle United defender Dan Burn.
Jill tucked into a vegan brekkie as she enjoyed a bit of down time in her native North East, with a Horticulture staff member telling Chronicle Live she'd been in a few times now and "never has a smile off her face!"
Jill took time to pose for a picture with one of the servers and, discussing how she thinks England's Lionesses with fare in the Worl;d cup,. told ITV: "Obviously Leah [Williamson] and Beth [Mead], Fran Kirby - they are massive misses to the squad. But I think that presents an opportunity to the younger players that are coming through and we know that they can perform.
“And we know they've got some fantastic talent in Lauren James and Chloe Kelly and Lauren Hemp - players that have performed for the club in FA Cup finals time after time. So I really do believe that we will be the best prepared team going out there and I still believe that we can do it."
