If you're wanting to propose, you might be put off by the jaw-dropping price of engagement rings. On TikTok, jewellery expert Rebecca shared her insightful advice on the biggest mistakes that couples make whilst out shopping.
The part-time social media star and antique dealer described mishaps, including underestimating longevity and not feeling pressured to max out your budget. However, one that a lot of people fall victim to is shopping in popular high-street retailers - and there's a valid reason as to why.

She explained: "Hi, I'm Rebecca, I'm an antique jewellery dealer and bespoke jeweller, and these are the biggest mistakes that I've seen in buying engagement rings.
"The first one hands down is anyone who runs straight to a high-street jeweller.
"I think the premonition is that they're on the high street that they're going to be a lot cheaper and actually they're really not cheaper.
She continued: "You can get a lot better deal if you go fully bespoke or even if you go with an antique or a vintage option.
"So, definitely check those out first."
Sharing their thoughts in the comments, TikTokers also agreed to the concerns with popular high street stores - with some describing their own experiences with saving cash.
One user wrote: I bought my ring from a tiny family ran jewellers.
"I got the same ring for £4,000 less than what Pravins was selling a smaller version of."
A second person explained: "My other half got mine from H Samuel it’s a ‘forever diamond’ and had one inside where it said ‘forever’ the ‘o’ was a diamond.
"And It’s fallen out, it's over priced for what it was and we’ve spent so much less on our wedding rings and the quality is so much better!!"
