Lamar Jackson’s Week 17 performance against the Miami Dolphins seemingly locked up the offensive MVP award for the Ravens quarterback. And for Dolphins safety Jevon Holland, there was one play in particular that had him thinking, “OK, this guy is different.”
During the second quarter, the Ravens opened a drive with a 75-yard touchdown pass to Zay Flowers. Looking back on the play, it was a surprising change in Jackson’s dropback that threw off the Dolphins as the play unfolded.
Jackson dropped back like he was going to pass the ball with his left hand before he turned and found Flowers down the sideline. It was so smooth that Holland had to shout out the play during Dolphins media availability.

“Hmmmm, that was pretty dope,” Holland said of his immediate reaction to the play.
And while it would have been incredible if Jackson broke out a left-handed pass, just the thought of it was enough to briefly confuse the Dolphins defense. NFL fans also had thoughts on the play.
This was how Twitter reacted
In the words of Peyton Manning, “Lamar Jackson is different, he’s special, he can make those kinds of throws. You can't."pic.twitter.com/kQardky7cc https://t.co/gk9rfnZKYw

Craziest thing about this is Tua has been doing this the entire season and no one has said a word https://t.co/KCTuJvhXnq

This is actually wild and extremely hard to do at NFL speed. https://t.co/Xr2t1COWDX

Was this an intentional “got ya” moment since Tua is a lefty and the defense is use to that in practice? https://t.co/g1z8bpX6RZ

The fact that people in the comments hating after a safety from The DOLPHINS said it caught them off guard is hilarious lol #LJGr8 https://t.co/5Bn8FdOfmV

I thought the same thing… I really thought he was left handed for a second 🤦🏿♂️ https://t.co/OInmLccCJc

In a career filled with insane plays, this genuinely might be my favorite from Lamar. Literally had the entire defense going in one direction before throwing a dime to Flowers. #Ravens https://t.co/d2hahVXmNi
