Brighton have handed a trial to Motherwell youngster Jevan Beattie.
The young striker - son of former Scotland frontman Craig Beattie - is training with the English Premier League’s development team. The Seagulls have been running the rule over him this week. The teenager has come through the Fir Park ranks but has yet to commit to professional terms. Beattie has previously impressed and been offered a deal by Sheffield United.
The problem with that is the English Championship are currently operating under a transfer embargo and unable to sign Beattie. Motherwell would also be entitled to training and development compensation should the youngster decide to sign elsewhere. The Seagulls have form for recruiting from Scotland. Marc Leonard made the move to the south coast from Hearts in 2018 while at first team level, Billy Gilmour was signed by Graham Potter for Chelsea just before he left the Amex for Stamford Bridge, but is now struggling for minutes under Roberto Di Zerbi.
