Jets’ Zach Wilson Made the Worst Kind of NFL History In Loss to Raiders

The Jets dropped their second game in a row on Sunday night, losing 16–12 to the Raiders in prime time on the road. The loss highlighted the team’s offensive struggles and extended its touchdown drought to 11 quarters.

While quarterback Zach Wilson is at the center of the debate over how to fix New York’s offensive woes, he made some not-so-great NFL history on Sunday night. Wilson became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for at least 250 yards in back-to-back weeks but have his team fail to score a touchdown in either game, per OptaStats.

Wilson recorded exactly 263 yards in each of the past two weeks during losses to the Chargers and Raiders. But in the most recent loss, he threw an ill-timed fourth-quarter interception with less than two minutes remaining after driving the Jets deep into Las Vegas territory.

The Jets (4–5) now have failed to score a touchdown in their past 36 offensive possessions. Things don’t get any easier next week, with a road matchup against the Bills (5–4) looming Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
