Jets’ Xavier Newman injured vs. Steelers, taken to hospital

A scary scene surrounding Jets offensive lineman Xavier Newman unfolded against the Steelers.

Newman, filling in for the injured Alijah Vera-Tucker, sustained a neck injury. He was quickly declared out for the remainder of the game.

The Jets sideline was concerned with the injury as he was then stretchered off the field and taken to a local hospital.

Newman had a collision with Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen in the third quarter of the contest. It took place when Steelers cornerback Beanie Bishop intercepted Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

According to the NBC Sports broadcast of the game, Newman has movement in his extremities.
