Jets Safety Jordan Whitehead Made a Cool $250K With His Three INTs vs. Bills

The Jets defense forced four turnovers against Josh Allen and the Bills on Monday night. Of those four turnovers, three were interceptions by safety Jordan Whitehead, who was a nuisance in the secondary against Buffalo.

With his three picks in the season opener, Whitehead not only set his career high tally for interceptions in a single season, but also cashed out on one of his season-long contract incentives.

According to Field Yates, Whitehead unlocked $250,000 worth of incentives in his contract on Monday after recording his third interception of the game.

New York’s defense has fared well against Allen throughout his NFL career. In 10 games against the Jets, the 27-year-old has thrown fewer touchdowns (9) than interceptions (10), and has been held under 250 yards in each of his last four outing against the division rivals.

Whitehead had just seven interceptions in his career and had never recorded more than two interceptions in a single season heading into Monday’s tilt. He brought his career tally to 10 after his impressive display against Buffalo.

It’s not the first time he’s had success in the secondary against Allen and the Bills. Last year, his first season with the Jets, Whitehead picked off Allen during a win in Week 9.

Whitehead will look to build off his strong start to the season when New York takes on Dak Prescott and the Cowboys in Week 2.
