Mike White has been a positive presence at quarterback for the New York Jets. Since taking over as the starter for erratic Zach Wilson, White has proven considerably more accurate, less likely to give the ball away and tougher to sack.
White played valiantly but took a major beating in the Jets’ loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. He left the game twice with injuries and sports painful rib and chest wounds as the Jets prepare for the Week 15 matchup with the Detroit Lions.
With the Lions being the next opponent for White, his wardrobe choice for his Monday press conference in New York is more than a little curious.
White rocked a t-shirt with a giant roaring lion head on it.
Mike White was asked if he feels like he will be ready to play this week:
"Yeah, I do. I feel good. I'm gonna prepare as such. I feel like I can play and I feel like I'm ready to roll" pic.twitter.com/tf9BuuSVoK

The shirt appears to be religiously themed, with a reference to the biblical story of Daniel in the lion’s den. White is a noted devout Christian. However, it’s a strange optic to wear the mascot of your upcoming opponent; the symbolism isn’t readily apparent.
