Jets provide injury updates on Mike White, Quinnen Williams

The Jets had a few injury scares during Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. For the most part, that’s all they were, just quick scares.

Head coach Robert Saleh provided updates on the injuries from Sunday, including the statuses of quarterback Mike White (ribs) and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (calf).

Both players are considered day-to-day. Saleh is hopeful White can start on Sunday and that the Jets are preparing as if White will start in Week 15 against the Lions.

“He’s tough as nails,” Saleh said about White. “He was playing really, really well.”

White took numerous shots during the game and went to the hospital as a precautionary measure. He was cleared and flew home with the team.

Quinnen Williams is closer to 50/50 at this point. Saleh said it’s too early in the week to know for sure. The calf injury is similar to the one Williams had during training camp.

Everyone was holding their breath when Williams went down, hoping it wasn’t a serious non-contact knee injury. He was taken to the locker room and was ruled questionable to return before eventually being ruled out with a calf injury, not a knee injury, which was a positive sign.

Wide receiver Corey Davis is in concussion protocol. He exited Sunday’s game with what was described as a head injury. The good news is Saleh said Davis was “feeling really good today” and that the team is hopeful he’ll be available for Sunday.

Two players are out this week, including one whose season could be over. Cornerback Brandin Echols will not play Sunday with a quadriceps injury and linebacker Marcell Harris is out with an ankle injury. Saleh added that Harris’ injury could be season-ending.
