Morgan Moses, the veteran right tackle for the New York Jets, returned to practice on Friday for the first time in training camp, bringing all five projected starting offensive linemen together on the field for the first time this summer. Moses, who had offseason surgery to repair a torn pectoral, expressed his excitement at being back with his teammates and participating in team drills.

The Jets' offensive line, consisting of Joe Tippmann, Tyron Smith, Alijah Vera-Tucker, John Simpson, and Moses, is crucial for protecting quarterback Aaron Rodgers and ensuring the success of the team's offense. Moses' return was met with enthusiasm from coach Robert Saleh, who praised the lineman's perseverance in overcoming his injury.

While Moses' practice snaps will be monitored initially, his presence on the field is a significant development for the Jets as they prepare for the upcoming season. The offensive line's stability is seen as a key factor in the team's success, especially after facing multiple challenges and changes in recent seasons.

General manager Joe Douglas made upgrading the offensive line a priority in the offseason, acquiring Moses from Baltimore and signing Smith and Simpson as free agents. With the return of Vera-Tucker from injury and the addition of rookie Olu Fashanu, the Jets are optimistic about the cohesion and performance of their offensive line.

Having all five starters healthy and practicing together is seen as a positive step towards building chemistry and cohesion before the regular-season opener. Despite the unpredictability of injuries and lineup changes in the NFL, the Jets aim to establish a strong foundation with their starting offensive line early in the season.

On a separate note, cornerback Sauce Gardner was excused from practice for personal reasons, while running back Tarik Cohen's unexpected retirement surprised the team. Saleh expressed respect for Cohen's decision and refrained from elaborating on the circumstances surrounding the retirement.

Overall, the Jets are focused on building a competitive and cohesive team, with the offensive line playing a crucial role in their aspirations for the upcoming season.
