Jets head coach Robert Saleh has been impressed by former LSU football star Jayden Daniels

Jayden Daniels left a strong impression on New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh following a joint practice last week. The Washington Commanders rookie comes with a lot of hype from when he was a Heisman winner at LSU.

Daniels and the Commanders play on Saturday at MetLife Stadium in what is the preseason opener for the Jets.

Last season for LSU, the 23-year old Daniels threw for 3,812 yards with 40 touchdowns and four interceptions. He was taken second overall by the Commanders in April’s NFL draft.

Asked on Thursday about Daniels, Saleh certainly didn’t hold back on his positive impression of the quarterback.

“I know they love him, I’m looking forward to seeing what it looked like on that side of the ball when I get to that tape,” Saleh told reporters.

“But I do know that he’s an impressive kid, just going through the evaluation process of the draft and going over quarterbacks, I know our building thought very highly of him also, so they’ve got a good one to work with.”

Daniels was a consensus All-American coming out of LSU. In addition to the Heisman, he won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award as the nation’s top quarterback last season.
