Lazard was one of the top free-agent wide receivers on the market and the Jets look to be getting him for $11 million per season, the same average that Jakobi Meyers is going to get with the Las Vegas Raiders.
As the Jets continue to wait on Aaron Rodgers, they will at least have one of Rodgers’ buddies now in the mix on offense. Lazard caught 60 passes for 788 yards and six touchdowns in 2022.
Lazard will also reunite with Nathaniel Hackett, who was Green Bay’s offensive coordinator from 2019-2021. In those three seasons, Lazard caught 14 touchdown passes, including eight in 2021.
Lazard is likely the new Corey Davis, who will likely be eventually cut or perhaps part of a package going to Green Bay for Rodgers. Either way, Lazard takes over that role in the offense and will provide a big target for whoever will be throwing the football for the Jets in 2023.
