The New York Jets wide receiver room will have much to do with Corey Davis and Garrett Wilson in 2022.
It’s early, but Davis had nothing but positives to say about himself and the rookie from the Jets’ OTAs (organized team activities) on Thursday.
Entering his second season in New York, Davis feels he’s in a better head space which will lead to an improved campaign. He mentioned injury and the loss of his brother as things previously weighing on him.
“I was just going through a little bit mentally. The past few years have been pretty rough,” Davis said via video conference. “I felt like I hadn’t really had the time to dissect everything. I lost my brother, and I never really had time to breathe after that happened. I felt like this offseason for the first time I had the time to think about it and actually put him to rest.”
In a better space mentally and physically, Davis will look to add to his 34 catches, 492 yards and four touchdowns he notched in nine games in 2021.
What also might help is opposing defenders having to worry about Wilson–along with Davis and fellow returner Elijah Moore.
Davis already sees it in Wilson.
“Dude is special. Dude is real special,” Davis said.
