The Jets are trading wide receiver Denzel Mims to the Lions, according to multiple reports.
New York will receive a conditional sixth-round pick in exchange for Mims and a 2025 seventh-round pick, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Reports emerged earlier Wednesday indicating the Jets planned to waive Mims unless they were able to find a trade partner for the former second-round pick.
Mims has featured in 30 games for the Jets since the team selected him with the No. 59 pick in the 2020 NFL draft. He has 42 career receptions without a touchdown.
During college, Mims was a standout receiver at Baylor, scoring 28 touchdowns during his final three years with the Bears. Despite his draft pedigree, things didn’t work out for him in New York, culminating in the two sides parting ways this offseason.
Mims will joins a Lions wide receivers room that consists of Amon-Ra St. Brown, Marvin Jones Jr., Josh Reynolds, Kalif Raymond and a suspended Jameson Williams, among others.
