Jets add help in trenches and backfield in latest Draft Wire 3-round mock

With the first week of free agency in the books, we’re starting to get a bit of a clearer view of what teams may do in the draft in about a month.

The Jets have added a little bit of help on the offensive line in Wes Schweitzer, but more help should still be on the menu. Fortunately, the Jets are able to land one of the top options in the latest three-round mock draft at Draft Wire and Jeff Risdon.

Starting at No. 13, the Jets are able to land Peter Skoronski, the offensive tackle from Northwestern. This is also assuming the Jets are able to keep this pick whenever they finally acquire Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

“This is pending the (seemingly inevitable) Aaron Rodgers trade. Making such a trade means catering to your new QB, and getting Rodgers arguably the best all-around pass protection lineman in the draft sure sounds smart, even if his length limitations force Skoronski to play guard.”

In the second round, the Jets get some much-needed help at the defensive tackle position after losing Sheldon Rankins and Nathan Shepherd in free agency. The Jets get Michigan defensive tackle Mazi Smith, who can be a space-eater at six-foot-three and 323 pounds and had 49 tackles last season for the Big Ten champions.

Finally, in the third round, the Jets bring in some backfield talent in the form of Auburn running back Tank Bigsby. Bigsby is coming off back-to-back seasons with ten rushing touchdowns and has over 2,900 yards and 25 rushing touchdowns in three seasons at Auburn.
