Holiday airline and tour operator Jet2 is advising customers about a series of devious scams, including one regarding Covid tests for travellers. Some destinations still require passengers from the UK to take PCR or lateral flow tests ahead of and/or after arrival.
These usually have to be paid for separately, with a number of providers offering testing kits. However, Jet2 has said it does not "arrange PCR tests or Fit to Fly documents" and urged passengers: "Please do not respond to requests for this," reports the LiverpoolECHO.
Previous scams have included attempts to obtain bank account details, telephone numbers and social media purchases. In a tweet, the tour operator advised: "IMPORTANT REMINDER. Only contact us using the methods shown on the Contact Us pages on the Jet2 and Jet2holidays websites.
"Do not purchase any form of Jet2.com or Jet2holidays credit notes via social media as they are unlikely to be honoured. Always check company telephone numbers and documentation. Scammers may pretend to be a legitimate company.
"We do not call from 0203 numbers. You should only book Jet2 flights or Jet2holidays directly with us or through one of our approved ABTA registered Trade Partners.
"We would never ask you to pay money directly into an individual's private bank account."
