Jet2 issues travel warning for UK holidaymakers flying internationally

Jet2 has urged travellers to be prepared for slightly longer wait times than usual as airport border force strike action begins.

PCS union members are set to walk out across the country due to an ongoing pay row with the UK Government. Any disruption at airports is set to be minimal as Wednesday, February 1 is not a peak travelling day.

However, Jet2 has asked international travellers, who need to have their passports checked, to be prepared for waits potentially taking 'a little longer than usual', reports the Echo.

The airline has issued a statement that warns that there may be some disruptions on the strike day, but assure travellers that journeys should run smoothly.

A Jet2 statement said: "We just wanted to remind you that there are planned Border Force strikes taking place from Wednesday 1st February until Thursday 2nd February 2023 at 07:00 . All our flights are planned to operate as normal.

"Things may take a little longer than usual, particularly when you arrive in the UK. Our teams will be on hand to help your journey run smoothly.

"You don't need to take any action, we will continue to update you if there are any further changes or updates."

It comes after the public sector union received a two percent pay offer, which it complained was well below the soaring rate of inflation. The PCS union continues to seek a pay rise of 10 percent from the UK government.

PCS General Secretary Mark Serwotka said: "Our hard-working members are fed up and angry with the way they’re being treated by a government that takes them for granted. "
