Jet2 issues 'important' warning to passengers over Covid tests and scam calls

Jet2 has issued an 'important reminder' to holidaymakers about scam awareness and how to keep yourself protected.

The package holiday airline warned passengers on social media about the importance of cyber security whilst booking a holiday, and outlined a couple of examples of common scams.

It also told customers some helpful steps that they can take to reduce the risk of being scammed.

Jet2 posted an image on their Twitter account yesterday evening showing several tips that will hopefully help its customer to spot a scam.

Calling it an 'important reminder', it includes steps that holidaymakers can take for extra security as well as warning signs that they might be in the midst of a scam.

They also included important information about Covid tests, Fit to Fly documents and social media that all passengers should be aware of before they travel.

The first point said: "We do not arrange PCR tests or Fit to Fly documents directly with customers, please do not respond to requests for this."

Jet2 highlighted another situation that could see passengers potentially giving money to fraudsters, saying: "We would never ask you to pay money directly into an individual's private bank account."

The airline also urged people to only use the correct details to contact Jet2. The post added: "Only contact us using the methods shown on the Contact Us pages on the Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays pages."

Purchasing credit notes should never be done over social media, as the airline has warned people not to do this too: "Do not purchase any form of Jet2.com or Jet2Holidays credit notes via Social Media as they are unlikely to be honoured."

Phone call scams tend to be common, and it can be difficult to know if the person you're talking to is legitimate or not.

For extra reassurance, they have said: "Always check company telephone numbers and documentation.

"Scammers may pretend to be a legitimate company. We do not call from 0203 numbers."

Finally, Jet2 warned customers about the dangers of booking through third-party companies.

The final piece of advice read: "You should only book Jet2.com flights or Jet2Holidays directly with us or through one of our approved ABTA registered trade partners."
