Jet2 issue Spain travel warning amid strike action

Jet2 has warned passengers flying to popular Spanish destinations today (Monday, February 13) that they could face “delays” due to industrial action. Air traffic control staff are walking out at several Spanish airports including Alicante, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, which the airline operates to.

Two more dates of industrial action are planned this month by Spain's CCOO and USCA unions. Passengers could face further disruption on February 20 and February 27.

In a statement on their website Jet2 said: “We wanted to let you know that industrial strike action is taking place Monday 13th February, supported by the Air Traffic Service in Spain. This means that flights operating to Alicante, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote (Arrecife) may be delayed.

“If you're affected, rest assured we'll try to keep any disruption to a minimum. Please arrive at the airport at least two hours before your departure time. Check-in closes 40 minutes before a flight's scheduled departure time.”

The airline advised passengers to check its website for the latest information before travelling, as well as departure screens at the airport.

Strike action is taking place at the following Spanish airports: A Coruña, Alicante, Castellon, El Hierro, Fuerteventura, Ibiza, Jerez de la Frontera, La Palma, Lanzarote, Lleida, Madrid-Cuatro Vientos, Murcia, Sabadell, Sevilla, Valencia and Vigo.
