Jet2 flight diverted from Edinburgh to Manchester after mid-air medical emergency

A flight heading to a Scots airport had to be diverted last night after a mid-air medical emergency.

The Jet2 flight from Alicante to Edinburgh Airport was forced to divert its route and land in Manchester after a passenger took unwell.

Social media users watched the plane reroute on a flight tracker after the LS776 flight took off from Spain around 7.46pm on Sunday evening.

As reported in Edinburgh Live, Twitter users noticed the plane taking a different course around 9:30pm.

The flight landed safely in the English city as the team at Edinburgh Airport confirmed that it was diverted due to a medical emergency onboard.

The aircraft in question was a Boeing 737-8MG.

Jet2 operate flights all across the world from Edinburgh. The travel operator say that their top destinations from the airport are Gran Canaria, Dubrovnik, Ibiza, Alicante, Antalya and Rhodes.
