Extra flights and holidays to Tenerife have been added by Jet2 to cope with a rush for winter sun breaks.
The added services to the Canary island hot spot will operate from five UK bases to handle very strong demand from holidaymakers as the Spanish government relaxes its vaccine rules.
Spain will now allow teenagers from the UK to enter the country with a negative PCR test performed 72 hours prior before arrival. Previously all visitors - even those under 18 - had to have proof of being fully-vaccinated with at least two doses of the Covid jab.
Along with a series of other positive travel updates, the move has resulted in strong demand and enormous growth for the Canary Islands , with Tenerife proving to be amongst the most popular sun destinations.
Additional services have been added from East Midlands, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, Glasgow and Manchester Airports from February 25 to May 23 representing 7,000 extra departing seats on sale.
Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “With Spain scrapping vaccination certification rules for 12-17 year olds and international travel starting to return to normal, families are really jumping at the chance to enjoy a much-needed holiday in Tenerife."
The following additional flights being added:
- Edinburgh – extra Tuesday services, which are perfectly timed for the Easter holidays, operating between March 15 and April 12, means the operator is offering two daily Tuesday services in this period.
- East Midlands – introduction of additional Sunday services from March 6-27, means two daily Sunday services to the popular sun destination during this time.
- Glasgow – third Friday flight added from February 25 to April 8, offering lots of choice and flexibility during this time and the Easter holidays.
- Leeds Bradford – extra Sunday services added from March 6 to April 17, offering two daily Sunday services to the destination between these dates and during the Easter holidays.
- Manchester – addition of extra Monday services from March 7 to May 23, means more choice for the Easter holidays, with two daily Monday services operating during this period. This is in addition to further Saturday services being added between March 19 and April 16, offering four daily Saturday services to the destination during this period.
