Jet ski users have been slammed for "unacceptable behaviour" at a popular swimming spot in Dublin by the Irish Coast Guard.
Under the local bye laws, jet skis are not permitted for use within 300 metres of the tides high and low water marks - called the foreshore. However, in a video posted to social media, as many as four jet skis are seen sailing across the water well within 100 metres of bathers at the Forty Foot.
Dun Laoghaire's branch of the Irish Coast Guard posted the video from Wednesday to twitter calling out the unsafe practice. They said: "Unacceptable behaviour by Jet skis operating dangerously at Forty Foot on 10.8.22.

"Under DLR Beach Bye Laws 2012, Jet skis must not be operated within 300metres of the foreshore and can only operate before 10am and after 7.30pm." Fianna Fail's spokesperson for Dublin, Cormac Devlin TD, responded to the tweet saying he would be in contact with the gardai about the issue.
He said: "Our bye-laws must be enforced for the safety of all sea swimmers and other activities diving, sailing, etc. I’ll write to both the local Council, Gardaí & Defence Forces to highlight this on-going issue and breach of existing bye-laws."
Other social media users also denounced the actions of the jet skiers. One said: "So, so dangerous."
Another wrote: "It's a matter of time before someone gets killed. They can reach up to 50mph+ and a clown with little or no experience or regard for the safety of others - recipe for disaster."
A third said: "No point having laws, or bye-laws, unless you have the means to enforce them." Joe Duffy previously issued a warning after he got hurt by a sea creature at an Irish beach.
