Jesy Nelson to take break from music for major life change and 'exciting' plans

Jesy Nelson is taking a break from music for a very different lifestyle.

The singer is temporarily shelving music to go travelling, something she has always wanted to do but never had the time due to her hectic showbiz lifestyle. The former little mix star said she has plans to release more music, but is taking a summer break to relax.

The Boyz crooner took to Instagram on Friday to announce her hiatus and plans to go off the social media grid. Sharing a screenshot of her statement against a black background, she wrote. "Hey guys! So for a long time I've really wanted to go travelling but never had the time to do it.

"I've got some really exciting things coming up with work and my music, but until then I'm gonna take the summer off to travel the world."

The 31 year-old continued: "I'm going to be off my social media for a while, I love you all so much and I'll see you when I'm back."

Jesy recently spoke out on her relationship with former Little Mix bandmates and why she actually left the group. Speaking to the Sun in April, Nelson admitted that she hasn't spoken to any of the other three band members since departing in 2020.

She also revealed that she decided to leave the group to focus on her mental health, prompting a barrage of online abuse and the awkward band fallout.

“Being in a girl band, you are a machine going all the time. You don't have a minute to breathe and take time out if you just need space. That was something I struggled with.

“For me my mental health issues were an ongoing thing while I was in Little Mix. I was struggling with my body issues, I was constantly being trolled – and I really, really struggled with it.

“For me personally, by the end, I couldn't enjoy the good parts and it’s a shame as I had the most amazing times in Little Mix, but I will say this always, your mental health is the most important thing and you only live once so sometimes you have to stop and look after yourself."

Jesy added that she knew she had to do what was best for her and has "no regrets" with her decision.
