Jesy Nelson returns to the UK and heads to the studio after defending delayed solo album

Jesy Nelson is back home in England after her long stay in Los Angeles working on new material for her debut solo album and silencing rumours her first record has been scrapped.

The former Little Mix singer, 30, showed off her American tan to her followers on Instagram on Tuesday, posing in an L.A influenced outfit choice of basketball shorts and a tiny white crop top for a mirror selfie.

Jesy went on to show off her Nike trainers with a close-up shot in a car, seemingly enroute to a recording studio nearby to work on some new material.

The self-proclaimed U.K baddie recently hit back at reports that record label bosses had cancelled plans for a debut album from the star, following an underwhelming response from her first single, Boyz, last October.

As rumours circulated that music bosses wanted Jesy to "go back to the drawing board" when it comes to singles for her first solo album, Jesy took to social media to set the record straight.

"Don’t usually comment on stuff like this because I can’t be bothered to waste my energy on total and utter nonsense so I’m going to address this once and once only as I know you guys are freaking out," the singer wrote with a laughing face emoji on her Instagram Stories on Monday.

"I promise you there is absolutely nothing to worry about. I’ve had an amazing time in the studio in LA working on my album which is almost finished.

"I’m so excited for you all to hear the next single which is coming soon. So, stay tuned."

She signed off: "I love you all and thank you for being so patient x."

After touching back down in Britain, Jesy was seemingly keen to keep working on her new album - popping into a recording studio on Tuesday.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, the former X Factor contestant filmed producer Sunny through the glass of what appeared to be a recording booth - giggling as she caught the Brit-nominated artist on camera.

Rumours of a delayed debut album from Jesy began when music insider told The Sun on Sunday over the weekend that after the release of Boyz last year, she let the label hear early versions of the songs she had come up with.

They claimed they wanted her to go back "to go back to the drawing board"

However another insider told the Mirror that contrary to that version of events, things had been progressing "at normal speed and without any hiccups."

Jesy could still possibly be the first from the original Little Mix line-up to release their first solo album, following the remaining trio going on hiatus last month to work on individual projects.

Now their farewell tour has ended, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards are all free to work on solo music careers - with rumours Jade is collaborating with Jax Jones on her debut offering.

Since the seemingly amicable split when Jesy left the band in December 2020, things have turned a little frostier over recent months - with a blackfishing row and admissions on both sides that the remaining Little Mix trio and Jesy no long speak.

"It is sad but honestly there is no bad blood from my side," Jesy told Graham Norton in October last year.

"I still love them to pieces and genuinely wish them all the best. I loved my time with them, and we’ve got the most incredible memories together but It’s just one of those things which needs to take time, so who knows.

"To me they are still the sickest girl band in the world," she added to the chat show host, before going on to perform her first - and so far only - solo single, Boyz.
