Jesy Nelson has returned to Instagram after taking a break from the social media platform, while teasing new music on the way.
The singer, 31, rose to fame after winning the X Factor in 2011 with girl band Little Mix, before quitting the group in 2020. Since deciding to go solo, she has yet to release a full-length album.
In September, Jesy decided to deactivate her Instagram account, leading to a 40-day social media detox. It came a month after she deleted numerous photos and videos from her page.
Taking to Instagram stories, the songstress wrote: “Hello my beautiful people, I am back! I decided I needed a bit of a social media break and it did me the world of good. I have missed you all so much. Thank you to all my amazing fans for being so loyal and patient I promise you there will be music soon but wanted to make sure it was perfect! Keep your eyes out for some clues but IT IS coming early next year (pink hearts).”
After leaving Little Mix, Jesy signed a solo record deal with Polydor Records. However, after only 14 months, the partnership ended.
A spokesperson for Jesy told the Mirror: "[She] feels now is the right for her to move in a new direction. As a result, she has decided to part company with Polydor."
A spokesperson for Polydor added: "Polydor have amicably parted ways with Jesy. We have enjoyed working with her and everyone at the label wishes her nothing but the best for the future."
However it appears that Jesy is now releasing music independently. She previously opened up about her latest album on social media.
She said: “Just sat here listening to my album in the car and I’ve cried my eyes out. I’ve never felt more proud, I cannot wait to share it with you guys.
“There’s things I’ve written on there that I’ve never, ever spoken about. I’ve poured my heart and soul into this and I just hope you love it as much as I do.”
However it has recently been suggested that Jesy has been considering a change in career, with a source telling The Sun : "Jesy is totally focused on her music at the moment but when that project is finalised people have bandied around the idea of her dipping her toe into the cosmetics market.
"She and her pals have seen the success of Rihanna ’s Fenty Beauty and Iman’s cosmetics line and some of those close to her think she could do well by emulating that.
"Jesy’s new music is all about feeling cool and confident, and in the future she could diversify her brand in a way that lets her do that with hair and make-up.”
