Jesy Nelson has sent her fans into a complete frenzy after announcing that she is releasing a new single later this month.
The former Little Mix singer, 31, revealed the track, titled Bad Thing, will be released on April 14 in an Instagram post.
Alongside the exciting music announcement, Jesy shared a black-and-white cover photo which sees her looking out from behind a wall dressed in a 70s-inspired outfit as she donned a short-sleeved top, skirt, platform heels, complete with a headband.
The long-awaited track will be the follow-up to her debut solo single Boyz featuring US rapper Nicki Minaj which was released back in October 2021.
After the Boyz music video for the song dropped, Jesy found herself in the centre of controversy as it prompted accusations of blackfishing - the practice of a non-black person trying to appear black.
Jesy later addressed the accusations, insisting that she never intended to cause offence and denied using fake tan.
The Shout Out To My Ex hit-maker was originally part of the girl band Little Mix alongside Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards, but left in 2020 after nine years, saying at the time that her mental health had suffered from the pressures of being in the band.
Jesy's new track comes eight months after it was announced that Jesy had parted ways with record label Polydor. She had released her debut single through that label.
A spokesperson for Jesy told us at the time: "[She] feels now is the right for her to move in a new direction. As a result, she has decided to part company with Polydor."
Whilst a spokesperson for Polydor had said: "Polydor have amicably parted ways with Jesy. We have enjoyed working with her and everyone at the label wishes her nothing but the best for the future."
A source told us at the time that Jesy and the record label were on good terms, but commented that the two parties had been "going in different directions" over her music.
They said: "Rather than go on together whilst having such differing musical ideas for the future, she now wants to be able to develop fully her own ideas as an individual artist".
