Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has shared an emotional and heartbreaking update about her pregnancy, revealing that she is facing serious complications with her unborn twins. In a tearful Instagram video alongside her partner, Zion Foster, Jesy opened up about the struggles she’s experiencing and the risks her babies are facing.
The 32-year-old singer, who announced her pregnancy in January, revealed that she has a rare condition that puts both her babies in danger. Holding back tears, Jesy explained:
“So we just wanted to come on here and do a little video. As some of you may know, we are having twins, which is so exciting for us, and we just wanted to let you in on a bit of a journey of what we’ve been going through. So we are having identical twins, which is so exciting, we’re just like, we actually can’t believe it. But unfortunately, there are complications that come with having identical twins.”
Jesy went on to explain that she is carrying Mono/Di twins, meaning both babies share one placenta instead of having their own. This condition can lead to severe complications, including Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS), where one baby receives too many nutrients while the other gets too little.
“The type of twins we are having are called Mono/Di twins, and with that, so normally, most twins will have two placentas that they feed off of. But when you have Mono/Di twins, that means your twins live off one placenta, which can lead to lots of complications. One of them being one baby might take all the nutrients, the other might— which is really awful to say— but could lead to both babies dying. And at the moment, I am currently pre-stage TTTS, which is Twin-to-Twin Transfusion, and I’m being monitored very closely.”
Jesy shared that she is undergoing twice-weekly scans, anxiously hoping for positive news each time. However, she admitted that every scan so far has brought more concerning updates. Despite this, she is holding onto hope and focusing on raising awareness about the condition.
“We feel so like, we’re really blessed that we’ve been given twins, but it’s just really sad that, unfortunately, it does come with its complications, which we had no idea about. We honestly had no clue that this kind of thing happens when you have twins.”
Throughout the video, Zion sat by her side, offering support as they shared their deeply personal journey. Jesy emphasized that they wanted to use their platform to inform others about TTTS, as many expecting parents are unaware of the potential risks.
“We feel it’s really important for us to share our journey with you guys and let you know what’s happening. But yeah, like I said, we are just hoping for the best, and we’re really fortunate that I am lucky enough to be scanned twice a week and we get to check on the babies.”
The singer concluded the emotional update with a heartfelt message: “Every time we go for a scan, we’ve just got to pray that everything is going to be good.”
Jesy and Zion rekindled their relationship in January 2023 after a brief separation in August 2023. Since announcing her pregnancy, Jesy has been open about the challenges she has faced, including severe morning sickness. Responding to a fan’s question about her pregnancy symptoms, she shared:
“I’ve been very sicky where I’m having twins, so constant vomiting 24/7. But other than that, I’m feeling very blessed.”
Fans have flooded Jesy’s social media with messages of love and support, hoping for a positive outcome for both her and her twins. As she continues to document her journey, many are sending prayers and well wishes, hoping that Jesy and her little ones make it through this difficult time safely.
