Jesus, Zinchenko, Smith Rowe - Arsenal injury news and return dates after Liverpool victory

Arsenal continued their ideal start to the season on Sunday as they registered a 3-2 win over Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium. It was a win that meant they returned to the top of the Premier League, following Manchester City's win the day before that saw them temporarily leapfrogged.

A goal from Gabriel Martinelli was followed up by a brace from Bukayo Saka to cancel out Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino's attempts to drag Liverpool into the game. After a huge win over Tottenham in the North London Derby, it continues the confidence throughout the squad.

There were some injury concerns going into the game, including the absence of Oleksandr Zinchenko from the matchday squad. With another European game in midweek, football.london takes a look at the latest Arsenal injury news.

Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus was an injury concern during the Liverpool game as he took a couple of big hits as the game turned physical towards the end. The first of which was a flailing arm from Kostas Tsimikas that saw the Brazilian needing medical treatment.

He carried on for a short while before taking a knock from a pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker when chasing the ball. He was replaced by Eddie Nketiah, but will be assumed to be fit again for the European clash in midweek.

Expected return date: Thursday, October 13 - Bodo/Glimt (A)

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Oleksandr Zinchenko missed Arsenal training in midweek, football.london understands, as the Ukraine international battled back from a concern surrounding his calf. He had missed the international break, though made a return against Manchester United after the two-week break.

He then missed the Bodo/Glimt clash before being omitted from the matchday squad against Liverpool, with Arteta claiming he will be assessed. "He [Zinchenko] had another muscle injury and lets see how it evolves in the next few days," the manager told Sky Sports on Sunday.

Expected return date: Unknown

Mohamed Elneny

Mohamed Elneny is suffering from a hamstring injury which he picked up against Fulham last month. It's likely to keep him out until roughly the new year, with Arteta describing the injury as 'long term'.

With a busy fixture schedule ahead, the Gunners will be keen to have the Egypt international involved once again, though there is no return date currently set for the midfielder.

Expected return date: Unknown

Emile Smith Rowe

Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe has struggled to get his season underway so far, suffering with injury from pre-season before making his return from the bench against Manchester United. That didn't last too long, though, with the winger struggling with another knock in the warm-down.

The England international has since undergone surgery which is set to keep him on the sidelines for an extended period, with no return date set as of this moment.

Expected return date: Unknown
