Jessie J has opened up about the grief she lives alongside nine months on from having a miscarriage.
The Price Tag singer, 34, says she had planned as a teenager to become a mother by the age of 30, and some days are hard as she often wants her life to "look completely different" in regards to having a baby.
She admits to her fans that she knows "it’s healthy and normal to have days of complete sadness", but is sharing her story and being honest about her feelings in order to make others across the world going through a similar experience feel less alone in their struggle.
Jessie announced she had suffered a miscarriage in November 2021 ahead of performing a gig in L.A, just one month on from splitting from boyfriend Max Pham after seven months of dating.
Speaking at the time, the star - who has previously dated Magic Mike actor Channing Tatum - explained to her Instagram followers she had lost her baby ahead of her performance on November 24, 2021, after discovering there was no longer a heartbeat hours earlier
On Friday [August 19], Jessie updated her 11.8million followers with how she was feeling almost a year on from experiencing pregnancy loss with an emotional Instagram caption and a sweet throwback snap.
Captioning a picture of herself as a teenager alongside a more recent, candid shot, Jessie begins saying: "When I was 16 years old I wrote a list of things I wanted by the time I was 30. 1st thing on the list was to be a Mum.
"Now I’m nearly 35 and some days the grief of losing a baby and it not being easy to have one, and wanting my life in that way to look completely different to what it looks like right now just overwhelms me."
Jessie goes on to acknowledge how it is healthy to have low days and normally goes through moments of "complete sadness" alone in private, but wants to connect with others who may be struggling to become a parent too.
"I know it’s healthy and normal to have days of complete sadness and to honour all the feelings that come up, good and bad," she tells her Instagram followers.
"The bad isn’t often at all and yes I could go through this moment right now today alone in private and usually do, but today I am here. Because I know thousands of people around the [world] feel just like I do. Maybe you read this and feel the love I have for you. I hope you can. Connecting is key. Hugging you all."
Model and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Daisy Lowe was one of the first to comment on Jessie's moving post on Friday, writing: "Massive hug- I feel you babe!"
Jessie first shared the news of her miscarriage last year with a snap of herself holding a positive pregnancy test and a quote which read: "Sometimes love won't be enough to make it work, and that's okay. It doesn't mean you've failed."
"Yesterday morning I was laughing with a friend saying 'seriously though how am I going to get through my gig in LA tomorrow night without telling the whole audience I am pregnant'," Jessie began the emotional caption with in November 2021.
"By yesterday afternoon I was dreading the thought of getting through the gig without breaking down…"
She then went on to explain that after going for her 3rd scan, she was sadly told there was no longer a heartbeat.
After musing that she may regret sharing the upsetting news online, she confirmed she would still be performing later in the evening.
In the heartbreaking caption, Jessie also admitted she had decided to have a baby alone as becoming a mum is all she has ever wanted.
"I decided to have a baby on my own. Because it’s all I’ve ever wanted and life is short," she told her fans. "To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget and I know I will have again."
Jessie concluded her moving post confessing that the "sadness is overwhelming" but adding: "I know I am strong and i will be ok."
