Jessie J feared career was over after horror car crash left her with nerve damage

Jessie J feared her career was over following a horrific car crash in 2020.

The award-winning singer, 34, suffered nerve damage, lost her voice and suffered from bouts of extreme tiredness and pain following the accident two years ago, and was left wondering if she would ever return to the stage and tour again.

Jessie - who recently reflected on her 2021 miscarriage - opened up about her recovery with her fans and showed gratitude to her body on Instagram in a now-deleted post, after performing at Brazil’s Rock In Rio festival following stints on stage across Europe and New York City.

Speaking to her fans after the performance, the Do It Like a Dude singer said: "I am grateful to my body and my voice that pulled through all these shows no problems, no issues. Tired in moments, but no sickness.

"After nine months of not being able to sing after a car accident with tissue and nerve damage and then being in pain for so long, I honestly never thought I would tour again."

The BRIT school alumni added: "I celebrate me in this moment. Giving myself a little pat on the back. I f**king did it. Good night."

Speaking on Instagram previously, Jessie detailed how she suffered damage to her neck and ear as well as gastric reflux because of the accident in 2020.

On Christmas Eve in 2020, the Price Tag singer also revealed that she had been diagnosed with Ménière's disease. In the post, the star wrote how the condition made her feel like "someone crawled" into her ear "and turned a hair dryer on."

Jessie - real name Jessica Ellen Cornish - burst onto the music in 2011 and has since gone to sell over 20 million singles and 3 million albums worldwide, in addition to performing across the globe for her dedicated fanbase.

Last month, the Bang Bang singer - who once dated actor Channing Tatum - opened up about the grief she lives alongside nine months on from having a miscarriage, after first sharing the tragic news with her fans just hours before she went on stage in November 2021.

In an emotional Instagram post, Jessie explained how she had planned as a teenager to become a mother by the age of 30, and some days are hard as she often wants her life to "look completely different" in regards to having a baby.

The singer went on to admit to her fans that she knows "it’s healthy and normal to have days of complete sadness", but was sharing her story and being honest about her feelings in order to make others across the world going through a similar experience feel less alone in their struggle.

Jessie announced she had suffered a miscarriage in November 2021 ahead of performing a gig in L.A, just one month on from splitting from boyfriend Max Pham after seven months of dating.
