Jesse Marsch's Leeds United will hope to reverse historic Marcelo Bielsa Spurs pattern

Leeds United will hope to reverse their performances in recent years under Marcelo Bielsa against Tottenham Hotspur as the two sides meet at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium this afternoon.

The clash will be Jesse Marsch's first game against Spurs in his managerial career and will prove to be a big test for a Whites side that have found good form in recent weeks.

After a torrid start to the season, back-to-back wins have shot Leeds up to 12th in the Premier League table and while Spurs look desperately out of form, recent history seems to be on the North London's side.

Spurs have won three of the four meetings since the Whites returned to the Premier League with the only Leeds win coming at Elland Road in May 2021 after goals from Stuart Dallas, Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo secured a 3-1 win.

But other than that, it's been just two league wins in the last ten meetings for the Whites after Spurs did the double over Leeds last season under Antonio Conte with a 2-1 win at home and an embarrassing 4-0 win at Elland Road.

The 4-0 loss turned out to be Marcelo Bielsa's final game in charge of the Whites which saw Spurs stretch to a 3-0 lead in just 27 minutes with goals from Matt Docherty, Dejan Kulusevski and Harry Kane.

Heung-Min Son capped off the win with a goal in the 85th minute but Marsch will try to control both Son and Kane who have proved fantastic for Spurs so far this season.

If Marsch can continue his side's good form, especially with a win over a top four team like Spurs before the World Cup break, it just might help him win over a few more of the fans who haven't been on his side this season.
