Three matches have passed by without a win for Leeds United since their zenith under Jesse Marsch against Chelsea. A narrow loss in East Sussex and a frustrating draw with Everton had some redeeming features, but a 5-2 hiding in Hounslow felt a touch more alarming.
A reaction on Monday against newly-promoted Nottingham Forest, the Premier League club which should have statistically conceded more than any other, is the swift way to stem the tide. The understandable reaction to that Chelsea win was effusive in its praise for Marsch and his side.
As high as everyone felt watching that Leeds demolition at Elland Road, Marsch said the feeling inside the camp remained realistic. While it was a near-perfect display against Thomas Tuchel’s side, the American knew there was still a lot of work for his side to improve on.

“I said last week I liked our team and that doesn't change,” Marsch said after the Brentford loss. “In fact, we're getting healthier, as you said, and we're going to get some key guys back.
“It will bolster what we're accomplishing with our team. Even when we beat Chelsea there was a lot of fanfare around how we were doing things, but internally we knew we still had a lot to do and I certainly knew we had a lot to still deal with.
“This league is very difficult. We will continue in that way, but, again, I like our group a lot.”
