Jesse Marsch provides Leeds United injury update as Cooper, Meslier, Koch and Adams miss Cardiff

Jesse Marsch has given a full injury rundown after being forced to leave a few big names out of Leeds United’s FA Cup clash with Cardiff City on Sunday afternoon. The Whites were without goalkeeper Illan Meslier, while Liam Cooper and Robin Koch were both missing in South Wales, too.

Their absences left Marsch needing to make changes at the back, with Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen and Junior Firpo stepping into the side. Tyler Adams was missing, too, along with Adam Forshaw and Patrick Bamford who weren’t expected to travel to the Cardiff City Stadium anyway due to injury.

Marsch, though, hopes to welcome all of the above names back into contention next week, and he has revealed Luis Sinisterra could make a return to full training in the build-up to Friday’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa.

“So Coops and Robin both have a little bit of a glute strain,” Marsch said after watching his side draw 2-2 with the Championship outfit. “But they should be back in training by midweek.

“Tyler, we had planned ahead of time because he had a little bit of an Achilles issue after the World Cup, but he's feeling much better and he'll be back in training as well. Illan had a muscle issue with his kicking leg after being out for so long with mono or glandular fever that it stretched him a little bit so he wouldn't have been able to play either today. So all four of those really weren't able to play.

“Adam Forshaw should be back in training by mid-week. I think Patrick trained yesterday and the day before, so we're going to have a good training session for him tomorrow. He'll be back in the mix this week.

“So we're just waiting on Luis to get into training which hopefully by the end of the week have happened. Then Stuart and Archie but other than that I think most guys will be back in training.”
