Jesse Marsch has praised the confidence Mateo Joseph, Sonny Perkins and Darko Gyabi played with on their Leeds United debuts at Wolves on Wednesday. The teenaged trio were all handed their first senior appearances for the Whites and did by no means look out of place against a Wolves side that included the likes of Max Kilman, Ruben Neves and Adama Traore.
Joseph has scored 12 goals in 11 appearances for the U21s this season, while Perkins has also been prolific in front of goal since his move from West Ham, scoring in 10 matches in a row for both club and country earlier in the campaign. Gyabi has also looked a class above in Premier League 2 following his summer switch from Manchester City.
Leeds were defeated 1-0 by Wolves in the Carabao Cup earlier this week and while Marsch was disappointed with the result, he believes 'the future is bright' based on the performances of the three of them.

He wrote on Twitter: "The result wasn’t what we wanted last night but it was great to see Mateo, Sonny, and Darko play with such confidence. The future is bright!!"
Marsch also spoke highly of them in his post-match interview at Molineux on Wednesday, speaking in great detail on what he felt the three of them did well during the match. He said: "Yeah, cup matches can go a lot of different way but we knew we'd put a lot of young players out on the pitch - a lot of young players that we believe in - and I think they performed really well.
"Against a good opponent, an opponent that played a lot of guys that have a lot of first-team minutes, a lot of Premier League minutes, I thought we had a really good performance and were unlucky not to come away with more.
"I would say Mateo Joseph was very good on the day, a little bit unlucky on the action where he's in on goal that he can't find a way to get something on-frame.
"I thought Sonny Perkins also played really well, we used him a couple of different roles but I thought he was really intelligent, found a lot of good spaces, was also dangerous and great defensively.
"And then I thought Darko [Gyabi] really grew into the game. I think he found the game a lot, he looked confident on the ball, he started to initiate things, won some balls in the midfield."
