Jesse Lingard transfer latest: Man United stance, Newcastle bid and more ahead of Deadline Day

Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard could finally be on his way out of Old Trafford this month.

The 29-year-old looks increasingly more and more likely to leave the club, with both Newcastle United and West Ham heavily linked.

Lingard's current United deal expires this summer, and with no expectation of a new contract before then, his departure now seems almost guaranteed.

Returning to the club after a phenomenal loan spell with the Hammers, former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted Lingard would be part of his first-team plans this season, but has had to settle for appearances mainly via the bench.

Here’s all the latest on Lingard and his potential move away from United this month...

Who wants to sign him?

As previously mentioned, both Newcastle United and West Ham are interested in the Reds playmaker. Tottenham have also enquired, but with the preference of a summer deal.

Burnley have been suggested as an alternative destination, though there are doubts over the financials. Leicester, Everton and Aston Villa are monitoring the situation.

David Moyes has long been a fan of Lingard following his superb loan spell in East London last season, and wants to bring the 29-year-old back to the club on a permanent basis.

Newcastle United are also said to be keen on acquiring the midfielder, with manager Ralf Rangnick informing Lingard that he is surplus to requirements and granting permission to leave this month.

How much do Manchester United want?

The Reds want Lingard's full salary covered, understood to be in the region of £100,000 a week, with Newcastle also said to have agreed a loan fee for the Englishman until the end of the season.

With United demanding £30million from the Hammers following their initial enquires last summer, it is thought Lingard would be available on a permanent deal for as £12m, given the player has just six months left on his current deal, though he would prefer to keep his options open with a loan move.

A Newcastle agreement again though has been brought into serious question, with the Red Devils asking for a substantial survival bonus totalling £12million should Lingard help the club avoid relegation.

What will happen?

With time ticking now until Monday's deadline, there is a lot still in play.

Manager Rangnick has already given his view on the situation to one fan outside the Theatre of Dreams this week, claiming whatever happens the 29-year-old will depart this summer.

West Ham are yet to rival Newcastle's advances, and with just four days until the window closes, Moyes will have to act fast in order to secure Lingard's services.

Such is Lingard's frustration, he is weighing up a move abroad in the summer and could enter negotiations over a Bosman move this month.
