Jesse Lingard tells Erik ten Hag what to do with Manchester United youngsters

Jesse Lingard has told Manchester United's new manager Erik ten Hag how to handle the younger players at the club next season.

While performances on the pitch have fallen flat for the senior team this season, many supporters have looked towards the youth system for alternatives. Alejandro Garnacho is one player who has been given time among the first team squad as well as the likes of Alvaro Fernandez, Hannibal Mejbri and Shola Shoretire.

However, actual minutes on the pitch have been limited due to United's predicament according to Ralf Rangnick. Garnacho and Hannibal have subsequently only had brief cameos to try and impress on the pitch.

With James Garner and Amad set to return from their loan spells shortly, there is likely to be no shortage of youth options next season and Lingard offered words of advice for the next manager on how to deal with the academy stars. He told the o fficial Manchester United website : "They’ve been training with us and you can see that they've got talent.

"It's all about working hard. It’s always harder breaking into our first team but if they've got the opportunity, especially going on tour and travelling and gaining that experience, I’m sure, in the up and coming seasons, they’ll get games."

One man who will not be there to see the rise of the next generation of talent is Lingard. It is widely believed that the 29-year-old will be on his way out of Old Trafford at the end of his contract this summer.
