Jesse Lingard sent cheeky message by West Ham star after Nottingham Forest transfer

Former Nottingham Forest ace Michail Antonio has sent a cheeky message to Jesse Lingard following his shock move to the City Ground.

Lingard has joined the Reds on a free transfer after leaving Manchester United at the end of his contract this summer. The England international is understood to have signed a lucrative one-year deal with Forest.

The 29-year-old was reported to be a target for West Ham United, where he enjoyed a highly productive loan spell during the 2020-21 season. He scored nine goals and provided four assists for the Hammers in only 16 appearances.

West Ham were seen as favourite to land Lingard on a permanent basis at one point. However, he opted for a switch to the East Midlands instead of London in the end.

Antonio, of course, is now at West Ham himself - having joined from Forest in 2015 - and played alongside Lingard during that loan stint. But the pair will be on opposite sides in the Premier League this season.

In fact, Forest face West Ham at the City Ground in their opening home league fixture following promotion back to the top flight - on August 14.

On Friday, Lingard posted some pictures on social media of him in a Forest shirt at the City Ground - with number 11 on the back. Antonio replied to the post on Instagram, saying: "I was (number) 11 when I was there a lot to live up too."

He then added: "Only joking Forrest Issa great club your going to enjoy yourself."

How do you think Lingard will get on at Forest? Let us know in the comments section.
