Jesse Lingard's return to Manchester United has not gone to plan, with the former Hammers player a peripheral figure at Old Trafford.
Lingard's marginal role at his boyhood club has led to his brother hitting out about the 29-year-old's treatment as he seeks a move away from the club.
West Ham have made no secret of their desire to bring Lingard back to east London and a number of other Premier League clubs are understood to be keen on the attacker, Newcastle amongst them.
The Magpies loan move has appeared to fallen through, however, due to the high demands Manchester United are requiring from them and this is potentially what has led to Lingard's brother taking to social media.
Louie Scott took to Instagram on the anniversary of Lingard signing for West Ham and posted a picture of his brother celebrating a goal for West Ham.
“A year ago today he was ‘allowed’ out on day release,” Scott wrote above the image next to three laughing emojis.
“Now we know what Akon felt like,” he added underneath.
The Akon song Scott is referencing is called 'Locked Up' and includes the lyrics: “I’m locked up, they won’t let me out.”
In the music video, Akon can be seen wearing an orange boiler suit in prison with chains around his wrists.
Scott appears to be suggesting Lingard is being made to remain at Old Trafford as the former Hammer looks to push through a transfer away from his boyhood club.
