Jesse Lingard posts Nottingham Forest message as Jermaine Jenas delivers brutal criticism

The latest Nottingham Forest stories on Monday, March 27.

Lingard latest

Jesse Lingard has posted an update on social media during the international break ahead of a critical part of the season for Nottingham Forest.

The Reds face a double-header against relegation rivals Wolves and Leeds United when the Premier League season resumes next weekend. Steve Cooper's side are currently just two points above the bottom three.

Forest could do with a good run of form from the former Manchester United midfielder, who left Old Trafford in the summer to join the Reds amidst much fanfare.

'Better options' message

Jesse Lingard has "not delivered" during his time at Nottingham Forest according to former Reds midfielder Jermaine Jenas.

The 30-year-old joined Steve Cooper's side last summer with much fanfare over his arrival at the City Ground after leaving Manchester United. But the midfielder, who has made 32 appearances for England, has so far failed to deliver consistently during his time at the Reds.

Lingard has yet to score or register an assist in the Premier League for Forest with his only goals for the Reds coming in the Carabao Cup. That has led to Jenas pointing out the honest reality of Lingard's performances for Steve Cooper's team this season.

Harsh Forest reality

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Jermaine Jenas has urged Jesse Lingard to show what else he can bring to the table after a sub-par season.

Jenas believes Lingard has "not delivered" for Forest since signing a big-money one-year contract last summer. The stats back that up, with no goals or assists for Lingard in 16 Premier League appearances this season.

There is plenty more left to come from Lingard though, says Jenas. He has also called on the "brilliant" Morgan Gibbs-White to open the floodgates with a goal to help steer Forest clear of relegation.
