When 27-year-old kayaker Noémie Fox claimed her first Olympic Gold medal in the women’s slalom kayak cross, no one was more elated than her older sister, Jess Fox.
While Jess might be known as Australia’s most successful individual Olympian after winning gold in the K1 kayak and C1 canoe slalom events at the Paris Olympic Games, her little sister Noémie is proving there’s room for more than one Fox sibling in the spotlight.
Jess might not be progressing through to the finals but that didn’t stop her from being ecstatic for her younger sister.
In one of the most wholesome moments of the Paris Olympic Games, Jess was captured leaping right into the water with her mum, Myriam to hug and celebrate Noémie as she claimed gold, later telling reporters that watching Noémie win as “one of the best days of my life.”
Both sisters were born in Marseilles, France to parents Richard Fox and Myriam Fox-Jerusalmi.
The family’s canoeing Olympic history starts with Myriam, who competed for France and Richard, who competed for England.
While their parents were icons in their own right, Jess and Noémie have taken it one step further.
After her sister’s win, Jess took to Instagram with a sweet picture of the siblings, captioned “screaming crying, veins bursting, she’s an Olympic champion.”
The Fox family certainly has a lot to celebrate this year.
