Jerusalem hosted its annual Purim parade on Sunday, celebrating the Jewish holiday that commemorates the biblical story of surviving a plot to exterminate Jews in Persia.
The event featured the Israeli police band and participants carrying a giant yellow ribbon symbolising hostages held in Gaza.
This year's Purim observance carried added significance for many, as it followed the 7 October 2023 attacks and the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
"It feels like really special (Purim this year) because, there's still like 70 or so (hostages) in Gaza and they can't celebrate Purim so it's almost like we're celebrating for them by setting up the symbol, and by advocating for their release, just to bring them home," said one of the participants.
